Baby Steps to the Home Study...

I just want to share that TODAY, I MAILED A FAT PACKET OF PAPERWORK to our agency

in Grand Rapids!! This agency, Families Through Adoption, is conducting the home study (mounds of forms, legal documents, references, medical info, etc. ETC!) for our adoption, while our placing agency, Dillon International (located in Tulsa, OK) oversees our actual adoption.

Families Through Adoption will process that packet and be in touch with us about our next step: home visits! (cue me yelling, "CLEAN YOUR ROOMS!").

In the meantime, we continue working on forms for Dillon, as well. We use an online account to enter information to send them. We're getting close to finishing that hurdle as well. The next big item to check off is our psychological evaluations. Whoa. I've never had one of those before! South Korea has a list of specific tests they would like a licensed psychologist to administer to Paul and I. Then, said psychologist gets to do a nice little write up about us. I think I'm a pretty stable genius, but honestly, I'm kinda nervous. We've had a hard time finding a psychologist office that could see us (COVID has slowed so many things down!), but after trying 4 different places, we found a doctor that could work us in! I'm waiting for that phone call; it will be late August or early September! On fund-raising matters, I'm excited to report that we have $19,000 in our adoption fund! NINETEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!!!

We have some more fun events and opportunities for our family & friends to get involved in helping us bring this baby home. The next big one is our silent auction, which will be held at our church, Bella Vista, on Sunday, September 27th...we will also have an online auction going on through my Facebook page, probably that week! THEN, in October, Paul is setting out to do something he's never tried before: a 100 mile race! Yah, you read that right. Paul will be running a CONSECUTIVE 100 MILES and raising money through sponsors! He is inviting anyone who would like to, to join him along the way! I'm planning on putting in a couple 1-milers here and there. LOL He's been training really hard and mapping out a course - more info coming soon!
